-Drill Field-
Pushups:
25 reps @ BW
15 reps in full gear (50 lbs)
Run:
2 miles in 20 mins
Hose Evolutions:
approx 6x 3 story building
approx 6x 50 yds (3 inch charged attack line= heavy as fuck)
....later at home....
LC:
5 mins @ 2x28kg; 5 rpm = 25 reps
Had some knee pain under the right knee cap while running. I think it is because we had to keep pace with everyone so my steps were kinda cut short forcing some odd impact. They felt fine during the other drill work and LC later. Gonna put some anti-inflammatory cream on them just to be safe.
LC set was cake. Wanted something a little faster than 4 rpm. Figured this was a nice maintenance pace. Legs felt good with it. Lower back was a little fatigued from the hose evolutions earlier. The rest of the week is drill work and PT tests.

Long day. Got word this afternoon at lunch that my mother had passed away. Cardiac arrest. Had good friends respond to the scene and did the best that could be asked of them. 110%. Sometimes we beat death. Most times we don't. This time death won. I shouldn't say that it was a surprise, but it still caught me unawares.
Cheesy as it is, and this might speak to how much I have drank tonight, but it's like in GS. This one shot on the platform is all you get. There are no do overs. The set gets hard. The legs start to give. Focus leaves you. In that moment you have two choices: Set the bells down and quit OR grit your teeth and keep going. If you quit it's over with and the pain can stop....but you still quit. If you keep going you will may end up dropping the bell or having your legs go out from under you....but at least you know you gave it your best and that you faced the pain with a grin.
The set is hard right now. I'm still in the fucking game though. Time to tighten up and sail straight.
My mom was a pain in the ass and caused me a ton of grief. She was a flawed individual. And I loved her very much and I miss her like you cannot believe.
May she find peace with my father as she joins my ancestors.

-AM PT Fitness Test-
Pushups: 46 reps in 2 mins
Situps: 55 reps in 2 mins
2 mile run in 17:52
Made top 3 in class.
-PM Training Evolutions-
100 yd sprint
(From here on all in full gear and mask = approx 50 lbs: when not actually performing an evolution you must march in place)
Pushups:
20 reps
Mountain climbers:
20 sets of 3 counts
Arm rotations:
10 counts of 4 rotations
100 ft ladder climb
Tire Flip:
20 reps @ Approx 250 lbs
****Legs gave out at the tire flip and I was suffering from mild hypoxia. Told to gear down and go see medic****
Did not lose consciousness, throw up, get delirious, or anything. Legs were tired from the cumulative build up from this week and today and I began to hyperventilate. Gotta do better. The overall heat buildup and breathing management inside the gear is hell. Gonna rest up tonight and tomorrow.
Light session with the bells to get the kinks out and then probably some sort of BW work in full gear on Sunday to help acclimate to the weight and heat pending that I actually feel better.

2nd day of rookie school:
2.5 mile run in approx 25 mins; 100 yd sprint at the end
Geared (50 lbs) obstacle course
100 ft ladder climb w/ gear (30 lbs)
30 pushups in gear (30 lbs)
Random odd object lifting
Later....
LC:
5 mins @ 2x28kg; 5 rpm = 25 reps
Stretch and done.
Trying to take it easy on the LC. Legs are fatigued but manageable. I could have hit 6-7 mins at this pace today but 7 mins would leave me spent and I have 2 more days of this stuff, Friday being the worst. Slow and steady progress. 2 steps back with the LC and I think the overall conditioning from the FF drill work will slowly begin to add up and in the end it will make me a better lifter on the platform.
Tomorrow's a new day.
